CHELSEA will use their pre-season tour of the United States to measure the progress made by Belgian pair Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne.

Touted as the new Didier Drogba, Lukaku has struggled to break into the first-team setup at Stamford Bridge after his £18million move from Anderlect last summer.

De Bruyne was snapped up from Genk in the January transfer window but the young winger was immediately loaned back to the club for the remainder of the 2011/12 campaign.

The Blues are due to hop across the pond in July for matches in Seattle, New York, Philadelphia and Miami as they prepare for the new season.

Lukaku and De Bruyne will travel stateside with the club and Chelsea will be using the friendly fixtures to determine whether the duo are ready for first-team action.

Striker Lukaku recently blasted axed boss Andre Villas-Boas for a lack of action this term and De Bruyne has been widely tipped for another loan move next season.

Both will be looking to impress in the US to force their way into the Blues first-team squad, with a new manager expected to be in place to oversee the tour.
