FA Cup second round

Bradford City 1-1 Brentford

BRENTFORD survived a late scare to earn a replay after being held at League Two Bradford.

Clayton Donaldson gave the Bees a first-half lead at Valley Parade, only for James Hanson to level after the break.

The Bantams pushed for a winner late on, but the visitors held on for another bite of the cherry.

Bradford started the stronger, with former Bee Alan Connell having an early effort blocked as the hosts flew out of the blocks.

It wasn't until 10 minutes before the break that Brentford could muster an effort on goal, but Matt Duke beat away Harry Forrester's effort.

However, the Bees did break the deadlock two minutes before the interval.

Donaldson latched onto a short back-pass before firing across Duke into the bottom corner for his 11th goal of the season against his hometown club.

The 28-year-old almost doubled the visitors' lead as the Bees started the second half on the front foot, but Duke was equal to his thumping effort.

Brentford had Richard Lee to thank for keeping their lead intact on 65 minutes when he got down to low to keep out sub Nahki Wells' drive.

But the Bantams did level shortly after when the visitors failed to deal with a ball into the box, and James Hanson pounced to fire past Lee.

The Bradford striker should've put his side ahead 15 minutes from the end after beating Tony Craig to a long punt forward, only to blast his shot high and wide.

Shaleum Logan was denied by Duke at the other end as both teams pushed for a winner.

The woodwork came to the visitors' rescue when Wells squirmed his way through, and Logan was in the right place at the right time to hack the ball to safety as it ended all square.

BEES: Lee, Logan, Craig, Dean, Bidwell, Saunders (Barron 70), Diagouraga, Forshaw, Forrester (Dallas 75), Hayes (German 82), Donaldson.

Subs (not used): Moore, Pierre, Redwood, Oyeleke.
