BRENTFORD have signed former QPR and Portsmouth keeper Liam O'Brien on a short-term deal.

The Chronicle revealed yesterday that the 21-year-old has been training with the Bees after being released by Barnet at the end of the season.

And with Richard Lee still out with a shoulder injury, boss Uwe Rosler has brought in O'Brien as cover.

The shot-stopper started his career at Loftus Road and was linked with Premier League duo Arsenal and Manchester United before joining Pompey for an undisclosed fee.

However, he failed to establish himself at Fratton Park and was loaned out to Eastbourne Borough.

O'Brien left the south coast club and joined Barnet in January 2011, making 23 appearances for the north Londoners.
