SVEN Goran Eriksson may have made the shock move to Notts County, but Brentford new-boy Myles Weston doesn't regret his summer switch from Meadow Lane one bit.

Former England boss Eriksson was named director of football with the League Two outfit this week, as the Magpies billionaire oil-tycoon owner Abdullah Al Thani sets his sights on a place in the Championship within five years.

Weston, 21, made 66 appearances in two seasons for Ian McParland's team, before joining the Bees this summer.

County chairman John Armstrong-Holmes branded Weston 'a foolish boy' for leaving the Midlands club.

But the former Charlton trainee is adamant he can prove his former employers wrong.

He said: “I'm not envious of the latest developments at County. I came to Brentford for a fresh start and a new challenge.

“I'm not saying we're definitely going to get promoted, but I think we might shock a few people this season.

“The move wasn't about money or anything like that, I just want to play a part in what the manager wants to achieve here at Brentford.”

The London-born winger has wasted no time in showing the Bees faithful what he can do, with some impressive displays during pre-season.

Boss Andy Scott has used him as a makeshift striker in the absence of crocked hitman Charlie MacDonald, and capped a brilliant display with his first goal for the club in the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace on Tuesday night.

And despite finding the net just four times in his two-year stint at Notts, Weston insists he's gunning for goals ahead of the new campaign.

He added: “I really enjoyed scoring my first goal in front of the home fans. I didn't score much last year, but I'm confident going into the new season.”
