JONATHAN Douglas is desperate to make it FIFTH time lucky in his bid for play-off glory.

The Brentford midfielder has endured the torture of the end-of-season lottery before, losing with Leeds United three times and then suffering the same fate with Swindon Town.

Douglas is hoping to put his miserable record behind him this time around as the Bees look to bounce back from Saturday's disappointment against Doncaster, which saw Rovers promoted at Brentford's expense.

The 1-0 reverse resigned Uwe Rosler's side to a two-legged semi-final against Swindon.

And Douglas is desperate to put his former side to the sword and finally end his play-off hoodoo.

He said: “I've got a terrible record in the play-offs. I've been to three finals and lost them all.

“It was heartbreaking. You work hard all season and it comes down to one game. It's difficult to take.

“But you can't dwell on what's happened. Hopefully I'll be smiling this time.”

Douglas insists the Bees have put the heartbreak against Doncaster behind them and are fully-focused on ensuring they don't feel the same pain again.

“We've come so far this season,” he said. “To miss out on automatic promotion the way we did against Doncaster was tough, but we've got a second chance now.

“It took a us a couple of days to get over the disappointment but we've come back in preparing for two massive games.

“At the start of the season our aim was to get into the play-offs and we've done that.

“We have belief in the squad and if we put everything together we're capable of beating anybody.”
