BRENTFORD'S League One play-off campaign could net the club up to £300,000.

The Bees' season ended in heartbreaking fashion, losing 2-1 to Yeovil Town in the final at Wembley earlier this month to miss out on promotion to the Championship.

However, chief executive Mark Devlin revealed the run could raise £300k for the Griffin Park club's coffers.

He said: “The cash from all of the semi-finals is put into a pool.

“Fifty per cent of that, after costs, is put into the Football League pool and the rest is divided between the four clubs, which is around £50,000 each.

“With the final, the total revenue is put into a pool, half of it goes to the Football League and the rest is shared between the two clubs.

“We would probably anticipate generating up to the £250,000, so we might get around £300k in total.

“We sold more than 22,000 tickets for Wembley, which is a little bit less than we expected.

“But with the ticket prices and the state of the economy that probably kept us below the 25,000 that we had hoped.

“The JPT final a couple of years ago was the club's first visit to the new Wembley, and some fans went there for novelty value and might not have been interested in going again.”
