BEDFONT Town did not even bother having a meeting to discuss appointing a new management team – as the current incumbents are doing so well.
Jon Barrie-Bates (pictured) and Lol Brinicombe have led Bedfont to four wins and a narrow defeat to league leaders Slough since taking over from previous manager Kevin Cooper last month.
Town's board were supposed to meet last Thursday to discuss whether or not to make the apppointments permanent, but have instead told the duo 'carry on as you are'.
Chairman Doug White said: “Why change something that is so lovely? We didn’t turn up for the meeting to discuss the position. We only ever meet when there is a problem.
“Both managers are still here for the moment, and if we keep getting the results it will make it very difficult for me to change things around.”
Bedfont moved to within a point of moving out of the drop zone with a 2-1 home win over Leighton Town last Saturday, and travel to the Midlands this Saturday when they will take on mid-table Daventry Town.
Brimicombe said: “It was important that we didn’t get beat. In the first half we were trying to chase the ball, but in the second half we let them have it. We had two banks of four, and they weren’t good enough to break us down.
“We have got some spirit back into the camp that was lacking under the previous manager, and the boys want to play for the club now. All this is probably worth a point in every game. Passion makes a big difference.”
