THE Beavers paid a heavy price for allowing Margate back in the game, when  they conceded a heartbreaking 90th minute winner at The Beveree on Saturday.

Hampton had the first real chance after 14 minutes when Tommy Brewer cut in from the right, and beat three defenders only to see his 20 yard shot deflected just wide.

Margate winger Matt Bodkin proved a a handful for Hampton's right back, Anson Cousins, and on 18 minutes, he broke clear but saw his shot blocked by Anthiony Chiweshe, with Charles Ademeno's follow up being scrambled away. The deadlock was broken in the 25th minute, when. James Simmonds played Charlie Moone into the box, where the striker was knocked over by a clumsy challenge.

Moone picked himself up dispatch  the penalty just inside the post. Hampton should have doubled their lead  soon after.  when Matt Reece managed to get to the line and hit a cross into the box. Charlie Moone looked to have only a simple tap in but a Margate defender denied him with a despairing last ditch tackle.

The second half saw Margate take the game by the scruff of the neck, and chances for Hampton were now few and far between. The Kent side levelled on 69 minutes when Joe Vine burst away on the right and his cross into the box was perfectly placed for Gate striker Phil Walsh to nod homer from close range, giving Chiweshe no chance.

Chiweshe saved well to deny  Ademeno with just 10 minutes left as Margate cranked up the pressure. But when Lance Azeez tormented Anson Cousins on the right for one last time; he created room for a looping cross  to the far post where Matt Bodkin applied the finishing touch from close quarters.
