HAYES & Yeading produced a battling performance to hold the Blue Square Premier leaders at Church Road tonight.
A massive 26 points separated these sides prior to kick-off, but that was not reflected in the first-half as strugglers Hayes & Yeading matched the top-of-the-table visitors.
Both sides struggled to create anything in the first half hour, Drewe Broughton coming closest for the visitors with a header saved by Hayes & Yeading goalkeeper Delroy Preddie, while Jefferson Louis was denied by Seb Brown at the other end.
However, the match exploded into action in the 35 th minute when Danny Kedwell squandered a golden chance to give his side the lead.
The Dons hit-man should have scored after Kirk Hudson pounced on a poor clearance from Preddie, but his shot from close range bounced off the near post.
Just two minutes later, the hosts also hit the woodwork with Brown also forced into a superb point-blank save.
Hayes & Yeading broke down the left with Dons claiming a foul on James Mulley and Brown was forced into a fingertip save to deny Andy Yiadom, before Adam Green's (pictured) acrobatic volley struck the inside of a post.
Only a clearance off the line from Green stopped Dons opening the scoring just before the hour with Brett Johnson's header coming so close to a goal.
But Hayes & Yeading continued to be a threat and good approach play from Jefferson Louis put Bradley Pritchard clean through, but his shot was off target.
Hayes & Yeading boss Garry Haylock made an adventurous move with 20 minutes to go by putting on strikers Elliott Buchanan and Ben Wright in place of Jefferson Louis and Adam Green.
Wright had one decent chance to make an impression, but he shot straight at Brown from an acute angle.
However, another substitute, Christian Jolley, almost created the winner with a superb run down the left, but Rashid Yussuff failed to connect properly from close range.
Hayes & Yeading: Preddie, Green (Buchanan), Bygrave, Holmes, Louis (Wright), Hand, Pritchard, Yiadom, Wassmer, Brown, Webb.
