DESPITE a narrow defeat to Sunbury Sonics, coach Andy Justice declared Sunday's game the best performance of the season from his Feltham Warriors U16s B side.

Dominic Shaaya notched 23 points, while John Sabino and Hassan Miah weighed in with 12 each and Ardi Bondoc bagged eight.

And although it was not enough to prevent a 73-63 loss, it was an impressive display for a team containing 11 students from Feltham Community College, in a league up against established basketball clubs.

Justice said: "This was their best performance this season by far. It has been a development squad in the truest terms, and the students have reacted to this very well."

Then, on Monday, Feltham Community College's U14 basketball team reached the Middlesex Cup Final for the first time in four years. Feltham dominated the first-half against Heston, driven forward by man-of-the-match James Woodburn-Hall and good shooting by Gerald Aguilar and new recruit Leroy Jama.

Leon Shafique tormented the Heston defence in the second-half, while Hamza Mirza had his best game of the season as Feltham ran out 37-31 winners. Feltham's senior girls basketball team also had an impressive win, beating neighbours Longford 64-10 last Wednesday having been 14 points up inside four minutes.

Salma Miah top-scored with 22 points, while Danielle Russell was not far behind on 16.
