Tessa Whitehorn scored her first home run as BA Flyers cruised to the top of the Windsor and Maidenhead District Indoor Softball League this week with a nail biting win over Chalfont.
Both teams were equal on points at the beginning of the night, but BA took the game with strong outfielding and a five home run streak, kicked off by Whitehorn’s in the second innings, to secure a narrow 64-62 victory.
While Chalfont played a tactical game, BA played the big hitting one, with Chetan Shah, Steve Hazard, Andy Chase, Colin Russell, Tom Robins and Max Rife all scoring home runs too.
Earlier in the evening, BA thumped newcomers to the league, Marlow, 77-16 in a one-sided contest, after which Robins, captain for the evening, praised BA’s players for their best performance to date in their indoor campaigns.
The indoor softball season lasts for 10 weeks between January and March.
There are three five-minute innings for each team, and points are scored by reaching first and home base by batting through the line up.
Points are deducted if a player is out.
BA’s softball teams are looking for new players with any level of ability.
Training is held every Sunday from 3.30pm to 5pm at the BA Concorde Club, in Crane Lodge Road, Cranford.
