PINNER School girl Jade Attoh suffered double heartbreak at the National Schools Championships on Friday and Saturday.
First the daughter of former AAA's Champion Frank Attoh was unable to defend her Triple jump title at the Don Valley Stadium in Sheffield because of an ankle ligament strain.
The year 12 pupil at Heathfield then bravely ignored the pain to help Middlesex into the finals of the 4x100m relay, only for injury to flare up and force her and her team-mates to withdraw from the final.
Head of PE at Heathfield Sue Stables summed up the feeling of disappointment for their school sports captain.
She said: "The whole PE department was gunning for Jade to do well and were glued to the coverage on Sky when we suddenly realised she'd had to pull out."
