A BRILLIANT 5-0 win at Brentham on Sunday saw Ashford Bowls Club progress to the next round of the Men's National Top Club Competition.

Playing with belief and confidence in a tough encounter, Ashford won the 2-wood and 4-wood singles, triples, pairs and rink to demoralise their hosts and book another away tie, at Uxbridge.

The clash meant Ashford fielded a weakened team for their mixed match at Sunningdale, but still put up a good fight as they went down 121-106.

A successful week started with a 50-44 win over Denham in the Thames Valley 1-2-3 Competition last Monday, in which Ashford won the singles and pairs and did enough in losing the triples rink to ensure overall victory.

Thursday saw the ladies lose 48-36 to neighbours Sunbury, but the men gained revenge with an 84-53 victory.

M Fullicks, M Cooper and C Stedman topscored 16-14 for the ladies, as did R Jones, S Brittin and D Coleman (26-13) for the men.
