ANDY Scott hailed Brentford's penalty shoot-out king Richard Lee after his heroics earned a JPT Southern Section final meeting with Exeter.

The former Watford keeper kept out Charlton's first three spot-kicks after it ended goalless in normal time.

And with Kevin O'Connor, Charlie MacDonald and Gary Alexander successful from 12 yards, the Bees went through 3-1, despite Mickey Spillane's miss.

It was the fourth time in five that Lee and Brentford have triumphed on penalties this season, following victories over Everton, Leyton Orient and Swindon.

But boss Scott reckons it's no fluke.

"We were very confident with Richard in goal when it went to penalties," he said.

"He has a feel for the player when they step up and he looks at whether they're right or left-footed.

"We knew where Johnnie Jackson was going to put his first one, and that set Richard on his way.

"I've also studied penalties and have a pretty good idea where they're going to put them, but Richard's got his way of doing it and it's working."

Karleigh Osborne hit the bar late on, while MacDonald and Sam Wood squandered great chances to win it in stoppage-time.

But Scott thought they were well worth their win.

He added: "I thought we deserved it. The better chances fell to us."
