CARLO Ancelotti hailed Florent Malouda's thrilling performance against West Ham as the best he has seen from the winger.
The France international set up two goals on a plate with inch-perfect crosses to Alex and Didier Drogba and got on the scoresheet himself after stepping inside Hammers defender Danny Gabbidon and drilling in a perfect shot.
He also received a standing ovation from appreciative Blues fans when he was substituted near the end.
“I believe that was the best performance from Florent Malouda,” said the Chelsea boss.
“He did very well. He worked for the team and did fantastic assists and scored a goal and I hope he will play like today on Tuesday [against Inter in the Champions league].”
“He will not play in left back,” Ancelotti added with a smile, when quizzed about the likelihood of Malouda reprising his emergency defensive role in the first leg in Milan.
The Italian manager was a picture of contentment after his team's dominant 4-1 victory over the Hammers.
“It was important after that defeat against Manchester City to have a good reaction,” Ancelotti said.
“I think that was a bad day against Manchester City and we've come back in the right way for this season.
“We had a good performance today and it was important at this moment to have a good performance – to come back to play our football with confidence. I am happy not only for the result.
“We want to maintain this determination and concentration because every game can decide our future.”
