CARLO Ancelotti has played down Chelsea's title hopes despite closing the gap on leaders Manchester United.

Tonight's win at Blackpool leaves the Blues nine points behind Alex Ferguson's side, but they have a game in hand and still have to face them at Old Trafford.

But when asked about their chances of retaining their Premier League title, Ancelotti replied: "No, I maintain the same idea because we are too far. Now we have to continue because it is a good moment for us."

John Terry's opener coupled with Frank Lampard 's double gave Chelsea a commanding lead at Bloomfield Road before Jason Puncheon pulled one back late on.

Ancelotti added: "I'm a little but disappointed because we conceded a goal. We were too relaxed and we must stay focused for 90 minutes."
