AFC HAYES boss Danny Vincent saluted his players for taking another giant step towards survival in Zamaretto Division One Central last night.
Vincent's men beat relegation rivals North Greenford on their own patch last night with goals from Kevin Chakaodza and Ross Ahir to move nine points clear of bottom club Beaconsfield SYCOB.
With just eight games to play, it means AFC Hayes have a useful to cushion to avoid the one and only relegation spot and it is not a luxury that Vincent expected when he took over in mid-season with the club rock-bottom of the table.
"The form has been good and there's an excellent buzz around the dressing room. We've got a small squad, but they're working well together. I think there's just a little bit more discipline than there was before and the boys are listening to what Colin Murphy (assistant manager) and I have to say."
Meanwhile, Uxbridge's inconsistent season continued last night when they were edged out in a seven-goal at Aylesbury.
Stuart Farrell, Toby Little and Wayne Carter scored for Uxbridge, who also now appear to be safe after a topsy-turvy season for Tony Choules' men.
