ACTON SWIMMING Club’s annual accumulative championships produced new records and a lot of happy faces at the summer party when awards were handed out.

The club gives out the prizes to the boy and girl in each age group who has swum the four strokes in the quickest times and these were the successful youngsters.

They are: Agata and Kasia Krynska, Nabeel Showman, Matthew and Adam Plavsic, Maggie Innes, Noah Harrowes, Isabel Barnes, Takuro Matsui, Maisie Preston, Ahmed el Masry, Bianca de Zoysa and for the masters Dominic Ranajaro and Shona Pineda.

New club records went to Maggie Innes, Isabel Barnes, Adam Plavsic and Ryan Beresford. Erica Hosonuma, eight, was awarded a special cup for her outstanding performances.

Silver medals went to George Barnes, Louise Walsh, Tomoro Matsui, Sorcha Gorman, Michael Vangelatos, Hannah Compton, Mohammed Hammad, Cameron Roker, Ryan Beresford, Louise Innes, Ugne Vijeikyte, and Anthony Kay with bronze to Dulcie Godfrey, Elliott Foster, Amina Sebaa, Anthony Choi, Helena Phillips, Lewis Rodriguez, Jordan de Zoysa, Aukse Vijeikyte, Ian Pritchard. Taketo Eguchi, Joshua Shepherd, and Adam Aubeelack.

Tatsuki Kawagishi and Alexandra Vangelatos received fourth place rosettes.

In other club news, Acton's juniors more then held their own against swimmers from seven other clubs at the John Basford Gala at Barnet Copthall.

Among the highlights were the performances of the Matsui brothers, who were on sparkling form.
Tomoro, nine, won gold in the breaststroke and fourth and fifth place medals in freestyle, butterfly, backstroke and medley.

Takuro, 11, won bronze in the butterfly and medley and fourth and fifth place awards in the breaststroke and freestyle.

Matthew Plavsic won silver in the breaststroke and was sixth in the butterfly and Elliott Foster was fourth in the backstroke, fifth in the breaststroke and seventh in the medley.

Isabel Barnes took silver in the freestyle and medley, bronze in the breaststroke and was eighth in the butterfly, while Hannah Compton was third in the backstroke.
Maggie Innes finished fourth in the medley and fifth in the backstroke.

Agata Krynska was a top eight finisher in the freestyle and there were very good swims from Sorcha Gorman, Louise Walsh and Noa Schinas.

Veteran Malcolm Munro, 62, won six medals at the Masters’ long course championships at Cardiff’s International 50m Pool. He won silver in the 50m breaststroke and the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke and bronze in the 100m and 200m breaststroke.

He also had the satisfaction of retaining his British record in the 200m backstroke despite a strong challenge from the previous record holder who failed to match Munro’s achievement by almost two seconds.
