Nottingham Forest striker Lars Veldwijk is a target for Brentford, according to reports.

The 23-year-old has endured a difficult time at The City Ground, failing to score in 11 appearances in the Championship but all of those came as a substitute.

The 6ft5in striker did feature in the cup competitions and showed flashes of his capabilities as a target man against Tottenham with his ability to bring others into the game.

He thrived under Marinus Dijkhuizen's management at Excelsior, firing 17 goals in 16 games in the Dutch second tier to lift the club to promotion.

Adding a striker will be high on the list of the head coach's priorities given Andre Gray is the only recognised frontman at the club.

Chief executive Mark Devlin has confirmed the club is active in the market already and plans are underway to bolster the squad which wowed the rest of the Championship en-route to making the play-off semi-finals last term.
