DIVISION ONE SOUTH AND WEST Truro City 3 Uxbridge 2

Battling Uxbridge made Truro City work hard for the win but while their hosts were left to contemplate Premier Division football after returning to the top of the table, the Reds merely had the prospect of a marathon trip back to Middlesex.

Uxbridge thrashed the Cornish side 5-2 when they met at Honey-croft back in November and they were on top once again thanks to David Warner's opening strike.

However, Truro came roaring back and although Uxbridge did level at 2-2 they could ill-afford to miss from the penalty spot and the home side sealed a 3-2 win early in the second half.

Uxbridge were handed a 12th minute lead when Truro keeper Martin Rice collided with his own defender and left David Warner with the chance to lift the ball into an unguarded net, but the hosts were level within a minute.

Martin Watts beat Gary Ross with a low drive and it got better for the hosts midway through the half when Andy Watkins finished off a decent move.

Lee Tunnell had the chance to draw Uxbridge level but he was left on 99 league goals for the club when Rice saved his spot kick, although the visitors did make it 2-2 just before the interval when Dave Lawrence struck from the edge of the area.

Uxbridge had the wind at their backs in the second half but within eight minutes of the restart they were playing catch up once again after Liam Eddy punished poor defending, grabbing Truro's decisive third goal from close range.

The visitors tried everything to find another equaliser and Tunnell came closest by creating something out of nothing but Rice saved well with his legs.

Plenty of free kicks and corners came to nothing while Truro might have added a fourth on the break but too often they failed to hit the target.
