Brentford have failed in an attempt to bring teenage goalkeeper Luke Pilling to Griffin Park.

The shot-stopper joined Rovers as a 15-year-old and has worked his way up through the ranks, making his first appearance for the first team last season.

It was a good start, too, as he kept a clean sheet in the National League clash with Maidstone United.

And the 19-year-old had reported interest from a number of clubs higher up the league pyramid, including from Brentford.

Pilling would more than likely have been a B team signing for the Bees, had he chosen to accept their offer, with Dan Bentley and Luke Daniels ahead of him in the pecking order for the first team.

But he has decided to snub interest from the Bees and instead signed a one-year contract extension at Prenton Park.
