Away from the transfer window, we spoke to Rui Fonte the other day about his early years at Arsenal and what effect that had on his career.

It’s an interesting read and it gets you away from the madness of the transfer window, which we approve of.

Could this QPR star be heading on loan to France?

The future of QPR man Yeni Ngbakoto is yet to be decided, with the winger being tipped for a move back to France.

The attacker’s agent, Philippe Fiorentino, went public about the reported interest in his client, but said that the 25-year-old is happy in west London.

However according to sources, interest in Ngbakoto is still ongoing, meaning that a loan move to France’s Ligue 1 may be on the cards.

Newcastle holding out for larger fee

Newcastle want a larger fee than the £15m offered by Fulham this morning, but have yet to accept or reject the bid.

Benitez wants to bring in a replacement striker, with both Lucas Perez of Arsenal and Divock Origi of Liverpool interesting the Newcastle manager.

There’s still plenty of time left for a deal to be done before tomorrow’s 11pm deadline, however.

Dean set to leave Bees

Birmingham are set to win the race to sign Brentford defender Harlee Dean, for a fee believed to be in the region of £2million.

Nottingham Forest, Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds had all expressed an interest in the centre back over the course of the summer.

Dean only has one year remaining on his contract and there is no likelihood of him signing a new deal, meaning the west Londoners are keen to cash in this summer rather than lose a player for nothing next summer.

QPR look set to complete the signing of Exeter City’s David Wheeler today.

The two clubs have reportedly agreed an undisclosed fee for the winger, who is set to undergo a medical in west London.

Wheeler, who can also play up front, has been with the Grecians for the last four seasons, playing more than 150 games in all competitions, scoring 39 goals.

Fulham in for Jota

Fulham are also in the market to sign Brentford star Jota

The Spanish wing wizard has been the subject of intense transfer speculation over the summer months with Middlesbrough and Hull seeing bids knocked back by the Bees.

West Ham, Everton and Newcastle had been reportedly interested earlier this summer but that has subsequently cooled.

Jota is in the final year of his contract at Brentford and the Bees’ transfer policy has been to cash in on a player, rather than let them leave for nothing.

And, when it comes to selling players, Matthew Benham and his team will accept an offer from any club, providing it meets the valuation placed on him.

Where have Fulham got the money from?

Sone Aluko has joined Reading from Fulham in a deal worth a reported £7.5million.

The 28-year-old had been the subject of several bids in July but Reading have now got their man after parting with a club-record fee, signing a four-year deal.

Aluko signed for Fulham only a year ago, when he made the move to Craven Cottage from Hull City, signing on a free transfer before making 54 appearances in all competitions, including two in the Championship Play-off final defeat to his new club.

Will Fulham be a force to be reckoned with?

So that’s Gayle and Jota being linked with moves to Craven Cottage as the final day of the transfer window approaches.

After selling Aluko for £7.5m yesterday, signing those two players will be big deals and will send ripples throughout the Championship.

If they make both the deals, you wouldn’t bet against the side to win the league.

Challenge: Floyd Ayite has Dwight Gayle breathing down his neck

Fulham have made a £15million bid for Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle.

The 26-year-old was left out of the Magpies squad for the side’s win over West Ham and it is believed that the Premier League will consider bids for the striker as they look to offload him.

It is reported that Newcastle want nearer £20m for the striker, who scored 23 goals in all competitions for Rafa Benitez’s last season as they claimed the Championship title.

Fulham make Gayle bid

Our first bit of news for the day is Fulham’s £15m bid for Dwight Gayle.

The 26-year-old scored 23 goals in all competitions last season as Newcastle won the Championship and it looks like Rafa Benitez may be offloading him.

However, it seems Newcastle want £20m for their man.
