Sunderland are interested in a move for Brentford midfielder Ryan Woods, according to The Sun on Sunday.

The former Shrewsbury Town man has good Championship experience for his age, something which new manager Simon Grayson is keen to add to the recently-relegated Black Cats.

It's thought that a fee of around £2million would be enough to secure the 23-year-old, as Grayson looks to quickly assemble a team ready for the start of their Championship campaign on Friday 4th August.

Whether the Bees would be willing to lose a key player such as Woods, and for a relatively modest fee such as £2million remains to be seen, as they look to build on their campaign from last season and mount a push towards the play-offs.
