QPR have expressed in interest in Middlesbrough defender Alex Baptiste, according to reports last night.

The 31-year-old, who is deemed surplus to requirements at the Riverside, is being lines up as an experienced defensive option for Ian Holloway’s side.

It wouldn’t be the first time that the pair have linked up, with Baptiste being a key part of the Blackpool side who won promotion to the Premier League before being a whisker away from survival in their first season in the top flight.

Baptiste spent the majority of last season on loan at Preston, and has also had loan spells at Bolton Wanderers and Blackburn Rovers in an injury hit few seasons for the defender.
