QPR have joined an apparent eight-horse race in the battle to sign Welsh prospect George Thomas, according to Wales Online.

The 20-year old Coventry City starlet is attracting suitors from the top two divisions in England after impressing for Wales Under-20s at the Toulon Tournament.

Thomas made his breakthrough at the Ricoh Arena last season, making 36 appearances, including the winner in the Checkatrade Trophy final at Wembley.

The youngster is currently out of contract after Coventry were relegated to League Two, but any move would include compensation due to the player being under the age of 24.

In addition to QPR's interest, Swansea City, Leicester City, Rangers, Newcastle, Derby, Burnley and Brighton are all chasing the youngster who will have to weigh up what the best move is for him to continue his development.
