Tom Carroll reckons he is better off staying at QPR than returning to Tottenham.

It was feared the England U21 loanee was headed back to north London this month, especially when Spurs denied him an appearance in the FA Cup for Hoops at Everton.

However, it looks as Carroll has a chance to win a Championship medal with Rangers rather than languishing in Tottenham’s reserves.

“I’ll be really happy to stay and push for promotion,” he said. “Every footballer wants to play games, and playing is part of anyone’s development.

“I’ve been playing here, and the last four or five games we’ve been getting good results.”

A win over rivals Burnley on Saturday would put six points between Rs in second and the Clarets in third – a point not lost on Carroll.

“Burnley could only draw on Tuesday, and maybe this is a good time to play them. There’s no doubt it’s a huge game,” he added.
