Sheffield Wednesday have taken Wealdstone defender Ciaron Brown on trial.

The 20-year-old signed for the Conference South side from Combined Counties Premier League team Bedfont Sports.

Brown was drafted into the Stones' starting line-up after an injury crisis and kept his place after those absent returned to fitness.

And his form has caught the eye of the Owls' hierarchy who have granted him a trial to get into the professional game.

Wealdstone manager Gordon Bartlett said: “We have a great pedigree at Wealdstone of bringing young players on and moving them up to the pro ranks and Ciaron is more than capable of making the step up having made consistent progress.

“I’m sure that he will do well in whatever the future holds and we will never hold a player back.”

Wednesday aren't the only club interested in Brown but have made the first move in a bid to assess whether he has the potential to play in the Championship.
