Harry Redknapp hopes Rio Ferdinand will be able to lure more top players to QPR after capturing Steven Caulker.

The Hoops fought off competition from Premier League rivals Crystal Palace to land the defender on an £8million deal from Cardiff City.

And Redknapp reckons having Ferdinand in his ranks will help attract others to Loftus Road.

“I think he will be a big influence in that respect,” said the R's chief. “People look up to him and he is a great role model for any young player.

“He has won six Premier Leagues, he has done the lot really and on the training ground he is absolute role model for all the players around him in the way he carries himself, the way he trains and the way he looks after himself. He's a class act.

“The chairman is working hard, Tony really is grafting a way. He knows the players I want and he is doing everything he can to get them. And I am sure he will.

“If they can arrive in the next week or two then I will be delighted then we'll be good.”

Tony Fernandes, the club chairman, has already indicated he wants to sign 'three or four' more players this summer.
