Harry Redknapp has played down speculation linking QPR with a move for Tottenham Hotspur defender Michael Dawson.

The Rangers boss is a long-time admirer of the Spurs centre-half having worked with him at White Hart Lane.

QPR were interested in signing Dawson two years ago, only for the Tottenham club captain to snub a move to W12.

Redknapp's newly-promoted side have been linked with the 30-year-old again this summer, but the Loftus Road chief insists a move is not on the cards.

"I like Michael. He is top player and a great lad as well," Redknapp told talkSPORT.

"You would have Michael in your team any day of the week but we haven’t made any offers for Michael."

Meanwhile, Redknapp is due to meet Rio Ferdinand later today as he tries to get a deal for the former Manchester United star over the line.
