QPR are in talks to sign Brazilian defender Bressan from Gremio.

The 21-year-old is way down the pecking order under manager Luiz Felipe Scolari and the former Chelsea boss is willing to let the centre-back leave.

It could be a complicated negotiation process for Harry Redknapp though as 50 per cent of Bressan's economic rights were sold to a business consortium earlier this year.

Gremio would only receive 20 per cent of any transfer fee and the remainder would be carved up between agents and other interested parties.

A loan move could be the solution.

The player holds an Italian passport, which crucially ensures obtaining a work permit will not be a stumbling block to a Premier League switch.

Redknapp has already completed the signings of central defensive pairing Rio Ferdinand and Steven Caulker this summer but is still keen to strengthen further, seeing Bressan as one for the future at Loftus Road.

Bressan, who started his career at Juventude before joining Gremio, has played 17 games for his club this season and scored one goal.

Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal were credited with an interest in Bressan earlier this summer.
