QPR are lining up a bid for Reading goalkeeper Alex McCarthy, according to reports.

Harry Redknapp's side are looking for a new stopper after Julio Cesar left the club to join Benfica this week.

And the Times suggests that the Hoops have opened talks with Reading over a £3m move for McCarthy.

The 24-year-old has fallen behind Adam Federici in the pecking order at the Madejski Stadium and has just one year left on his contract.

Meanwhile, on loan defender Mauricio Isla has now received international clearance and is available for Sunday's match with Tottenham.
