Harry Redknapp is growing increasingly confident Loic Remy could feature in QPR’s Premier League opener with Hull City last weekend.

Remy was not involved in the squad as Rangers went down 1-0 at home to PAOK in a friendly match at Loftus Road this afternoon.

However, the Frenchman took part in a training session beforehand and has been working hard on his fitness.

It looked an unlikely scenario earlier this summer as Remy found himself on the verge of joining Liverpool, only for the deal to collapse.

But with the new season only a seven days away, boss Redknapp will be monitoring the striker in training this week with a view to including him in his team to face the Tigers.

Redknapp said: “Hopefully, with a week’s training, he’ll be fit to play next week. He’s fine, he’s trained well and his attitude’s first class. Very good.

“He’s here and he wants to work and get in the team and play. He’s worked really hard on the training ground and I couldn’t have asked for more.

“Hopefully [he will remain a QPR player]. At the moment we’re all geared up for him to stay.”

New loan signing from Juventus, Mauricio Isla, was also not involved after returning to Italy to sort out a work permit for his move to England.

R’s sources have indicated that will be a formality and Isla’s arrival will go through as planned.

Another new face, Jordon Mutch, did make his Loftus Road debut against PAOK and showed glimpses of why Redknapp signed him from Cardiff City.

Redknapp added: “He did okay for his first game. He’s a young boy and he’ll settle in. He’s got good ability and I think he’s got a good future.”
