Harry Redknapp remains confident QPR will sign a striker before the transfer window closes on Friday.

The Loftus Road chief is desperate to add to his firepower to take the heat off top scorer Charlie Austin, who has smashed 15 goals in 28 games this season.

Rangers have been linked with Inter Milan frontman Ishak Belfodil and Auxerre's France Under-21 forward Paul Georges-Ntep.

And boss Redknapp insists they will boost their strikeforce in the next few days.

He said: “Everyone knows we’ve been relying on Charlie Austin up front, so we do want to bring in a striker.

“We’ll find somebody for sure. There’s someone out there and we will find one.”

Redknapp also wants to bring in a defender as cover after an injury to Danny Simpson, with versatile West Ham youngster Jordan Spence on their radar.

“We’re looking to bring in a defender too if we can," the former Spurs manager added.

"We’re not sure how long Danny will be out for but it doesn’t look too good and he’s been told to rest.”
