Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink remains hopeful that Steven Caulker will remain a QPR player with just under four weeks remaining in the transfer window.

The 24-year-old may make his first appearance for Rangers since the 2-1 win over Newcastle at the end of the 2014/15 season after spending last season on loan at Southampton and Liverpool.

The one-time England international, who was brought up in Feltham and was a Brentford fan at a young age, has impressed the Dutchman with his attitude in pre-season and Hasselbaink would like to see him stay.

Hasselbaink said: “I hope (it's a very good chance that he stays) as he's done the whole pre-season with us and he's been magnificent.

“He's come back, we had a chat on the first day about how we saw things. He has been open and how he has been open fitted with our script.

“We'd love him to stay and have at least one more year with us and take his services. He's a very important individual for us who is doing extremely well at this moment in time.”

Caulker was linked with moves to Crystal Palace and Bournemouth in January.
