QPR boss Harry Redknapp is ready to welcome Loic Remy back into his squad after his move to Liverpool collapsed.

The Reds cited medical reasons for their decision to pull the plug on the deal to bring the French forward to Anfield.

However, Redknapp insists the 27-year-old is fighting fit and is happy for the frontman to return to Loftus Road and spearhead his attack.

He said: “I don’t see how he has failed a medical. He had a stringent one here, at Marseille, Newcastle and with the France team before the World Cup and never had a problem.

“I don’t see an issue. He’s never failed a medical so there must be other reasons. That’s not possible because you couldn’t meet a fitter lad.

“Maybe they’ve changed their mind or decided to move in another direction.”

Fabio Borini’s decision to turn down a move from Liverpool to Sunderland is understood to be one of the factors behind the deal falling through.

But Redknapp added: “Their loss is my gain. I’m disappointed for the boy but from my point of view I've got a great striker here.

"He’s capable of getting 20 goals and is one of the best in the Premier League.”
