QPR’s boss admits he is taking a gamble by bringing Ravel Morrison to Loftus Road.

The West Ham player is expected to join on loan in the next couple of days with Harry Redknapp welcoming the mercurial talent with open arms.

In fact, the current manager reckons there are shades of Adel Taarabt in the wayward Morrison.

He said: “It’s a bit of a gamble, of course it is. People say he’s got baggage. Let’s face it, if there wasn’t something he would be going to Manchester United.

“But if you don’t buy a ticket – you can’t win the lottery, eh? If we can get the best out of him he could make the big difference.

“I spoke to Lee Clark at Birmingham and he said he would take him back tomorrow.

“People were talking about him and the World Cup, but now he’s got come here and show what he can do.

“You need someone who can change a game. I’ve always had someone like that in my teams.

“Talk to some of the players that were here when Neil Warnock had Adel and they won the Championship – and they might say he was the main reason why.

“Sometimes you need a maverick in the side.”
