QPR have agreed a fee with Cardiff City for the transfer of Steven Caulker, Get West London understands.

Harry Redknapp wants the City defender to partner the incoming Rio Ferdinand at Loftus Road next season and has met the £8million buyout clause in Caulker’s contract.

Ferdinand has told Redknapp he is ready to put pen to paper when he returns from the World Cup in Brazil next week.

Rangers boss Redknapp hopes the imminent arrival of Ferdinand will persuade Caulker, who he worked with at Tottenham, to opt for QPR ahead of rival bidders Crystal Palace.
