Powerful centre-half Dave Winfield will remain on loan at AFC Wimbledon for a further month.

The defender was due to return to York City after Saturday’s 3-2 defeat at Exeter but the two clubs have agreed an extension.

First-team coach Simon Bassey told Dons Player: “Dave had not played a lot of games this season, but he has acquitted himself well during a difficult run of fixtures. To come in and get up to speed as quickly as he has is a credit to him.

“He is a really good professional and that has shown in his performances. Deji Oshilaja and Dave have been excellent together and they have formed a good partnership. Hopefully, it will help us to finish the season strongly.”

Winfield has made six League Two appearances since joining the Dons.
