Oscar has been handed a Chelsea lifeline by incoming manager Antonio Conte.

The Brazilian playmaker looked certain to leave Stamford Bridge this summer with strong interest registered from Italy.

He was also the subject of a huge bid from the Chinese Super League in January but decided not to follow compatriot Ramires to the Far East.

Juventus, who Conte managed before taking charge of the Italian national team, expressed the greatest desire to sign Oscar this summer.

They were understood to be preparing a bid for the midfielder but are now thought to be turning their attentions to Roma ace Miralem Pjanic.

Conte is said to have spoken with Oscar and reassured the player he will be part of his first-team plans when he arrives in west London after Euro 2016.

Oscar has never made noises about leaving Chelsea and last month vowed to fight for his place under the new coach next season.

New Chelsea boss: Head coach Antonio Conte looks on

He said: “It's been very difficult for me. I was one of those players who got injured at the start of the season.

“When I came back, the team wasn't doing so well and I found myself on the bench and in and out of the first team.

“I didn't achieve the level I wanted to achieve but hopefully next season I can do better.

"[Conte’s arrival] is great for the players. Obviously you have to prove yourself. I'm sure the coach has been following all the players individually.

"It will be a breath of fresh air to the team and everyone's excited to prove their worth to be here.

“Obviously I haven't been very happy because I haven't been playing very much but, with the new coach coming in, it's a fresh beginning for everyone."

Roma, who are bracing themselves for the departure of Pjanic, could also be set to lose Radja Nainggolan to Chelsea in the forthcoming transfer window.

The Belgian has already held talks with Conte and several Blues players about a move to London this summer, with a deal expected to be struck after the Euros.
