Manchester City are poised to pounce to sign Brentford academy star Ian Carlo Poveda.

The Bees brought the U16 England international, who is also eligible to represent Colombia, in from Barcelona after legal issues with their La Masia academy over signing young players.

And the Daily Mail has reported that Poveda is set to be offered a scholarship with the Sky Blues' academy in the coming weeks.

Bees scout Miguel Rios was able to lure the highly talented man to Griffin Park, although there was confusion as to whether it was a loan or a permanent move.

But Brentford, who are set to announce the closure of their academy, will be the ones receiving a fee from the 2012 and 2014 Premier League champions.

Poveda had previously trained with Arsenal before the Gunners lost out to the Catalan giants in a battle for his services.
