Liverpool have agreed a £10.5million deal for QPR striker Loic Remy.

The French frontman is understood to have passed a medical during the Reds’ pre-season tour to the US and is expected to be unveiled this afternoon.

Brendan Rodgers’ side fought off competition from Arsenal, Spurs and Newcastle for the former Marseille forward.

Remy scored six goals in 14 games following his £8m switch to west London in January 2013, but was unable to prevent Rangers being relegated from the top flight.

Chairman Tony Fernandes wanted to keep the 27–year-old at the club following promotion back to the Premier League, but the lure of Champions League football with Liverpool proved too strong.

Meanwhile, Harry Redknapp is stepping up his efforts to fill the void left by Remy’s departure, with Watford’s Troy Deeney among the names on his shopping list.

However, a deal for Iceland international Kolbeinn Sigthorsson has stalled due to the Ajax striker’s wage demands.
