Kevin De Bruyne has ruled out returning to Chelsea as long as Jose Mourinho remains manager.

The 23-year-old was sold to Wolfsburg in January 2014 after finding it impossible to force his way into the Special One’s plans.

De Bruyne has dazzled in Germany though, weighing in with an impressive 20 assists this season, to begin tp fulfill the promise that prompted the Stamford Bridge club to sign him in 2012.

It led some to question Mourinho’s judgement in dispensing with the winger, Eden Hazard among those to suggest the player could have made it in SW6, and his stunning form has attracted interest from Wolfsburg’s Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich.

A move to Bayern could tempt the flame-haired Belgian but De Bruyne insists he won’t entertain the idea of heading back to Chelsea unless there is a change at the top.

"I think, to be honest, that I would not return to Chelsea as long as he is in charge," he told Sport Bild.

"I know that I like the Bundesliga, and it always did me good.

"But I don't fear to return to England, or to play in Spain. I believe I can make it there.

"You can't compare my time at Chelsea with what is now.

"If it's like that [with Munich interested] then Bayern have to talk to Wolfsburg. Then those responsible will know what the deal is."

De Bruyne is under contract at the Volkswagen Arena until 2019 but expected to open talks over an improved deal next week.
