Jonathan Douglas has completed his move from Brentford to Ipswich Town.

The Bees midfielder had been told he had no future at the club after falling out with the club's hierarchy.

And Mick McCarthy offered the Irish midfielder a way out after the Bees forced him to train with the under-21s.

Douglas joined the club in 2011 as one of Uwe Rosler's first signings and was a regular for the German and his successor, Mark Warburton.

He captained the club in the absence of club captain Kevin O'Connor and regular first team captain Tony Craig and scored eight goals last season as the Bees reached the play-off semi finals.

However, his relationships within the club deteriorated and, despite being present at the training ground with Marinus Dijkhuizen ahead of pre-season training, the pair never spoke to each other, although the Dutchman said he had.

Douglas could feature against Brentford on Saturday with Ipswich the Bees' first opponents.
