QPR have had an approach turned down for Metz right back Ivan Balliu, according to L'Equipe.

The 25-year-old instead opted to put pen to paper on a new deal which is set to run until June 2020.

Balliu is a product of Barcelona's famed La Masia academy having joined the club from Girona at the age of 12.

He progressed well through the ranks to become an important player for the Barcelona B team.

He has since played for Portuguese side Arouca, where he made 65 appearances before moving on to Metz in 2015.

He helped them achieve promotion to Ligue 1 before establishing himself as a key player, getting five assists in 27 matches.

It's thought that the full-back also rejected approaches fro Real Betis, Stuttgart, Rennes and Benfica in order to stay with the French side.
