Ian Holloway has admitted turning QPR's fortunes around has proven to be a bigger job than he thought.

Rangers have struggled over the past few seasons and have now suffered six straight defeats.

It has been over a year since Rangers won after going behind – the 4-3 win over Bolton was the last time Hoops triumphed after trailing and Holloway finds that statistic hanging over him.

He said: “It's a bigger job than I thought. The fact we haven't come back within 18 months of going behind and that wouldn't have been nice to witness that for my predecessors.

“We need to believe that if we go behind it's not the end of the game. It could be experience, character – that's not a nice feeling.

“After 12 minutes I see that stat in the back of my mind. What's it like for them? The Championship is about how many you can score. Look at the goalscorers and who is at the top of the table.”

Holloway then revealed he would have signed Glenn Murray in a heartbeat if he had been in charge of QPR in the summer.

He added: “If I was around in the summer when QPR were trying to do something I'd have driven to Glenn Murray's house and tried to drag him into my training ground, put a hood over his head and not let him out until he signed a deal.

“To replace Charlie Austin, I'd have to do it with someone who can already do it with my young ones to make them believe.”

Holloway is, though, confident he can find the right man in January to help the likes of Conor Washington, Sebastian Polter and Idrissa Sylla.

Championship debut: Idrissa Sylla against Birmingham

“I was given a Meccano set for Christmas so I hope I can make myself one. In this window, how difficult is that,” he quipped.

“I believe one of the three playing today can get us goals. There was Ngbakoto on the left, Pawel on the right and Sylla up the middle.

“I think Brighton's goalkeeper has something to do with them not scoring goals. How good are the goalkeepers in this division?

“We've got all the foreigners in the big leagues and are they better than ours? I don't think so.”
