Fulham are closing in on the signing of Clint Dempsey.
The USA star scored 60 goals during five years with the Cottagers before his switch to Spurs in 2012, only to leave White Hart Lane for Seattle Sounders less than a year later.
However, Dempsey is available on a short-term deal during the MLS off-season and Rene Meulensteen is on the verge of bringing the 30-year-old back to SW6.
The Texan was understood to be in London completing the deal this week, with Fulham defender Sascha Riether posting a photo of the pair on his Instagram account earlier today, saying 'welcome back.'
Riether has since deleted the post, although the deal is expected to be announced when the window reopens.
