Fulham will have to look elsewhere if they want to offload Bryan Ruiz after Werder Bremen pulled out of negotiations to purchase the forward.

The Costa Rica international spent the second half of last season on loan at PSV as the Whites were relegated to the Championship.

Boss Felix Magath has not used Ruiz this term and is keen to move the 29-year-old on as soon as possible.

Bremen were credited with an interest in signing Ruiz but their financial position appears to have changed since.

General manager Thomas Eichin has told German news outlet Kreiszeitung Syke funds have now been frozen.

"It's impossible to sign him [Bryan Ruiz],” Eichin said.

“The club is determined to keep up with the financial consolidation and get closer to achieving a black zero.

“That is why we are not talking about signing new players, we are just out for further departures.”

Ruiz starred for his country at this summer’s World Cup in Brazil.
