Rene Meulensteen has confirmed Fulham are interested in signing Leicester City defender Liam Moore.

The Cottagers had a £2million offer rejected for the 20-year-old centre-back last week, with the Foxes keen to fend off interest in one of the hottest prospects outside of the top flight.

However, Meulensteen is desperate to shore up a backline that has leaked 48 goals in just 22 games - the most in the Premier League - and an improved bid was made last night, which has also been turned down.

When asked whether Fulham had made an offer for Moore, the Dutchman replied: "I can say that the club has made a bid and whatever has come back is with the chief exec [Alistair Mackintosh] and is ongoing."

However, Meulensteen remained tight-lipped over the club's pursuit of Porto star Steven Defour, adding: "There are things in the newspapers that I have read but we have to wait and see. It's transfer speculation and at the moment I have nothing to add."
