Diego Costa has signed for Chelsea in a £32 million move from Atletico Madrid.

Costa has penned a five-year contract at Stamford Bridge and will link up with his new team-mates when the Blues jet out for a European training camp next week.

The deal has been in the pipeline for months and the Blues confirmed an agreement with Madrid at the start of July.

New team-mates: Costa in action against Gary Cahill last season

Costa said: “I am very happy to sign for Chelsea.

“Everybody knows it is a big club in a very competitive league, and I am very excited to get started in England with a fantastic coach and team-mates.

“Having played against Chelsea last season I know the high quality of the squad I am joining.

Disappointing: Costa was off the pace at the World Cup

“I would like to thank everybody at Atletico who made me into the player I am, it was an incredible time for me, but now I am starting a new adventure and I hope to win many trophies with Chelsea.”

Costa has been out in Brazil at the World Cup this summer and put in a series of below-par performances as Spain were eliminated at the group stage.

However, he was in sensational form for Atleti last season to help them reach the Champions League final and secure the La Liga title.
