Romelu Lukaku will make a decision on his Chelsea future in the next few weeks after admitting he has not been in contact with the club for almost a year.
The striker has revealed he has not spoken to anyone at Stamford Bridge about his Blues career since leaving to join Everton on loan last September.
Get West London understands detailed discussions were held between Lukaku's representatives and Madrid prior to the start of the World Cup.
Everton manager Roberto Martinez is also keen to re-sign the frontman on a permanent basis and would be willing to pay £20million for his services.
Chelsea would be looking for a fee of at least that figure and are considering their options, with Lukaku admitting he remains in the dark over a potential move.
“I have a few ideas but we’ll see,” Lukaku said. "I have to think about it.
“I want to be somewhere where I can play my best football and hopefully win titles. There are choices to make. Things like that happen in football and I’m confident I will make the right choice.”
When questioned over whether he had been in contacting with Chelsea during his time at Everton, Lukaku responded: “No, not yet.
"It depends what is the best for me, where the most ambition is and where is the best place for me to do develop as a young player.
“I’m still 21 but I think I’m experienced enough. I’ve played a lot of games and scored a lot of goals, now I want to win titles and be one of the best.”
Lukaku signed for Chelsea from Anderlecht in August 2011 for a fee of around £18million.
